A very scary word that has no doubt touched each and every one of us in some way. I've always known it best as being what killed my mother's best friend, after she battled breast cancer for 16 years.
Yesterday, the disease hit somewhat close to home when I received and email from my friend's wife - whom I have known for about 10 years, he played on my ball hockey team with his brother - that simply stated that he has cancer. No details were given because none were known.
SHOCK.
They have a baby a few months older than the Happy Boy and they are expecting their second child very, very soon.
SHOCK.
As someone who tries to keep his emotions in check - never get too high, never get too low - this email has been most disturbing for me. You see, me and death do not get along very well. Quite frankly the concept of death I understand and am cool with, but the who concept of being dead forever (if that is what you believe too) is what disturbs me most. I try to put myself in his shoes and imagine what is going on in his mind, and then I stop. There is so much to think about and so much to do.
It's all very sad.
But as a generally non-religious person, I said a prayer for him this evening and will probably do so every day until he gets through this ordeal. He needs everyone's support. I look forward to reporting in my blog in the future of his progress, for the sake of his wife and children and those around him who love, care for, respect him and are his friends.
Get well soon!!!

Goodness... that is really sad news. Prayers for his family and strength for his wife and children.. Hopefully it is something caught early and is treatable... be a good solid friend and let him reach out to you if he needs it...
Love....
